Why the coating matters
Alunar® protects more than the color.
A metal roof is a long-term investment, so its finish must perform for decades. Interlock’s full 70% PVDF Alunar coating includes a specialized acrylic blend that produces a harder, tougher surface and helps resist abrasion during handling and installation.
Ceramic infrared-reflective pigments help deflect solar energy, reduce roof-surface temperature and limit heat absorption—an especially valuable advantage during North Carolina summers.

How Alunar® cool-roof technology works
Reflects solar energy
Specialized pigments reflect a portion of the sun’s energy instead of allowing the roof surface to absorb all of it.
Releases absorbed heat
Thermal emittance helps the roof release absorbed heat rather than continuing to store it.
Reduces cooling demand
Lower roof-surface and attic heat can reduce the burden on air conditioning, depending on the home and complete roof assembly.
Protects the finish
PVDF chemistry is selected for long-term resistance to UV exposure, chalking, fading and harsh weather.
